Artemis 1 Mission launch update

Artemis I Launch Update: NASA has announced the next launch attempt for Artemis I, the first integrated flight test of the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft beyond the Moon. The mission aims to demonstrate Orion's systems in a spaceflight environment and ensure a safe re-entry, descent, splashdown, and recovery before the first flight with crew on Artemis II. The mission will take 38 days, 23 hours, 49 minutes, with a total distance traveled of 1.3 million miles and a re-entry speed of 24,500 mph (Mach 32). The mission patch for Artemis I features elements with symbolic meaning for this historic flight, including the triangular shape and colors of silver, orange, red, white, and blue. The launch director waived off the Artemis I launch attempt at approximately 11:17 a.m. EDT due to a liquid hydrogen leak while loading propellant into the core stage of the Space Launch System rocket. Engineers are still gathering additional data and will share a new launch date when available. Registration will move forward to the new date.
