ISA-TV
Israel Space Agency (ISA) TV - The Israel Space Agency (ISA) is a governmental body under Israel's Ministry of Science and Technology, established in 1983 to coordinate all Israeli space research programs, focusing on both scientific and commercial objectives. It was founded by theoretical physicist Yuval Ne'eman, replacing the earlier National Committee for Space Research, which had been established in 1960 to develop initial infrastructure for space missions. The agency's primary goal is to advance Israel's capabilities in space technology, particularly through the development of satellite launch vehicles like the Ofeq and Shavit. Currently chaired by Dan Blumberg and directed by Uri Oron, the ISA operates from Tel Aviv and collaborates closely with various stakeholders in the space industry, including academic institutions and private companies. The agency has been responsible for several notable satellite programs, such as Ofeq, AMOS, Eros, Techsat, and TechSAR, which have established Israel as a significant player in both military and commercial satellite markets. The ISA operates the Palmachim Spaceport, which is also used by the Israeli Air Force for missile testing. Due to geopolitical considerations, launches are conducted westward over the Mediterranean Sea to avoid flying over hostile territories, limiting payload capacity by approximately 30%. The ISA has set ambitious goals for the future, including investing $180 million to enhance private sector participation in space technologies, double the number of Israeli space companies, and expand the workforce in this sector. Recent collaborations with international entities like NASA highlight Israel's commitment to advancing its space capabilities on a global scale.
