Roscosmos TV
Roscosmos TV: Roscosmos, or the State Corporation for Space Activities, is the governmental body responsible for Russia's space program. Established in 2015, it evolved from the Russian Space Agency, which was formed in 1992. The agency underwent several restructurings before becoming the current state corporation, aiming to consolidate and reform Russia's space industry. Roscosmos' roots trace back to the Soviet space program, which began in the 1950s with significant achievements like launching the first satellite, Sputnik, and sending the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia needed to reorganize its space activities under a unified structure. Roscosmos oversees all aspects of space exploration and research, including crewed missions to the International Space Station (ISS), satellite launches, and the development of new spacecraft. It also manages Russia's launch facilities, such as Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia. As of July 2022, Yury Borisov serves as the director of Roscosmos, headquartered in Moscow. Future plans include developing its own orbital space station following its withdrawal from the ISS project by the end of 2024, reflecting a shift towards independent capabilities in space exploration. Roscosmos is a pivotal entity in Russia's efforts to maintain and advance its position in global space exploration.
