TWAN (16 Sept. 2022)

NASA conducted a critical cryogenic demonstration test for the Artemis I mission on September 21, 2022, at Kennedy Space Center. The test aimed to repair a hydrogen leak, evaluate updated propellant loading procedures, and conduct further assessments. Artemis I is an uncrewed flight test around the Moon, paving the way for future crewed missions. NASA astronaut Frank Rubio launched to the International Space Station for his first spaceflight, joining Expedition 68 crew members. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is revolutionizing our understanding of the solar system by capturing detailed infrared images and spectra of planets, moons, comets, asteroids, and ring systems. The telescope is currently studying terrestrial planets like Mars, gas giants Jupiter and Saturn, ice giants Uranus and Neptune, and primordial bodies like Pluto. Recent JWST images have revealed stunning views of Jupiter's rings and moons, providing new insights into their composition and dynamics. Beyond our solar system, JWST has directly imaged exoplanets, expanding our knowledge of planetary formation and diversity in the galaxy.
