Chronicle (2012)
Chronicle (2012) - Rating: U/A 13+ (Parental Guidance Under 13): Chronicle is a 2012 American science fiction film directed by Josh Trank, following three high school friends who develop telekinetic powers after an underground discovery. Shot in found-footage style, the film tracks their spiralling friendship as they confront the darker sides of their personalities, exploring themes of power and responsibility, coming-of-age, and the psychological toll of extraordinary abilities. It was both a critical and commercial success, praised for its grounded take on the superhero genre. - Rating: U/A 13+ (Parental Guidance Under 13): Chronicle is classified U/A 13+ under the Interplanetary Studios framework, consistent with its international ratings (MPAA PG-13, BBFC 12A, FSK 12). It sits at the upper edge of the band, and a cautious classifier could defensibly apply U/A 16+ given the domestic abuse subplot, Andrew's psychological collapse, and the destructive Seattle climax — all handled with restraint rather than graphic detail. Applicable content warnings include moderate violence, domestic violence, bereavement and death of a character, mental health issues, trauma depiction, sustained bullying, limited strong language, alcohol use, mild sexual references, sustained threat, real-life stunts presented in immersive found-footage style that younger viewers may imitate, and flashing lights during storm and climax sequences warranting a photosensitivity note. A pre-roll warning screen of minimum 5 seconds is required before playback. Recommended descriptor line: "Moderate violence, domestic abuse, bereavement, mental health themes, strong language, brief alcohol use, flashing lights." When in doubt, apply the higher rating per internal guidance.
