Attraction 1 (2017)

Attraction 1 (2017) Rating U/A 13+ — Parental Guidance Under 13: is a Russian-American science fiction action film directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk, set in Moscow after an extraterrestrial spaceship crashes. The story follows young Yulia, who becomes torn between her ordinary life and the new possibilities offered by the alien Hekon. Tensions rise when a group of teenagers, traumatized by the death of a classmate caused by the crash, seek revenge on the alien. Yulia eventually allies with Hekon, who saves her life, and she helps him return to his ship despite opposition from her estranged father. The film combines high?budget visual effects with themes of xenophobia, empathy, and humanity’s response to the unknown. It was one of the first Russian films released in IMAX 3D and became the highest-grossing Russian sci?fi film, earning over 1 billion rubles. A sequel, Invasion (Attraction 2), premiered on New Year’s Day 2020. Rating U/A 13+ — Parental Guidance Under 13: The film features moderate action violence and threat, including a dramatic crash?landing sequence, property destruction, and confrontational teen?driven violence, but without graphic detail or extreme gore. It handles mature themes such as xenophobia, grief over a classmate’s death, family estrangement, and fear of the unknown, resolved through empathy and personal growth rather than prolonged trauma. Language stays at limited strong language (occasional mild?to?moderate swearing), with no explicit sexual content or nudity, only implied romantic and emotional tension. Recommended warnings are: Moderate violence, Mild scary scenes / threat, Mature themes, and Brief emotional distress. This places it clearly above U and U/A 7+ but below the stronger intensity, language, and sexual content typical of U/A 16+.
